About 25

Welcome

CBT:  Cock & Ball Torment is a welcoming workshop for those interested in CBT work by oneself or with a friend.  It covers CBT safety, shows some gear, suggests techniques and – in person -- provides a demonstration.

Why

Many guys enjoy some flavor of CBT.  I am personally wired for it:  The first time I experienced an orgasm was during what I’d now describe as CBT play as a kid.  Since I’d never felt that way before, I thought the CBT play was the (only) way to get there.  I repeated it over and over in the following months.

Curious about additional potential benefits we get from having risky, edgy, sexy play?  Read The Good of BDSM.

Acknowledgements

A huge thank-you to my friend, author and presenter Hardy Haberman for his book Family Jewels:  a guide to male genital play and torment (Greenery Press 2001).  Re-reading the clear writing and playful, sexy vignettes were helpful for organizing my thoughts for this workshop.  Highly recommended!

Thanks, too, for the contributors to Wikipedia.org for help with the anatomy section.

The male reproductive system consists of a number of sex organs that play a role in the process of human reproduction. These organs are located on the outside of the body and within the pelvis.

The main male sex organs are the penis and the testicles which produce semen and sperm,

Penis

The penis is the male intromittent organ. It has a long shaft and an enlarged bulbous-shaped tip called the glans penis, which supports and is protected by the foreskin. When the male becomes sexually aroused, the penis becomes erect and ready for sexual activity. Erection occurs because sinuses within the erectile tissue of the penis become filled with blood. The arteries of the penis are dilated while the veins are compressed so that blood flows into the erectile cartilage under pressure. The penis is supplied by the pudendal artery.

Scrotum

The scrotum is a pouch-like structure that hangs behind the penis. It holds and protects the testicles. It also contains numerous nerves and blood vessels. During times of lower temperatures, the Cremaster muscle contracts and pulls the scrotum closer to the body, while the Dartos muscle gives it a wrinkled appearance; when the temperature increases, the Cremaster and Dartos muscles relax to bring down the scrotum away from the body and remove the wrinkles respectively.

The scrotum remains connected with the abdomen or pelvic cavity by the inguinal canal. (The spermatic cord, formed from spermatic artery, vein and nerve bound together with connective tissue passes into the testis through inguinal canal.)

Testis

Testis has two major functions: To produce sperm by meiotic division of germ cells within the seminiferous tubules,[1] and to synthesize and secrete androgens that regulate the male reproductive functions. The site of production of androgens is the Leydig cells that are located in the interstitium between seminoferous tubules.[1]

Epididymis

The epididymis is a long whitish mass of tightly coiled tube. The sperm that are produced in the seminiferous tubules flow into the epididymis. During passage via the epididymis, the sperm undergo maturation and are concentrated by the action of ion channels located on the apical membrane of the epithelium.[2]

Vas deferens

The vas deferens, also known as the sperm duct, is a thin tube approximately 30 centimetres (0.98 ft) long that starts from the epididymis to the pelvic cavity. It carries the spermatozoa from the epididymis to ejaculatory duct.

Accessory glands

Three accessory glands provide fluids that lubricate the duct system and nourish the sperm cells. They are

CBT approaches & safety

Constriction

the action of making something narrower by pressure or of becoming narrower; tightening

Constriction, stretching and compression approaches restrict blood circulation.  When on for a while, the related nerves seem to stop signaling pain.  (Also, damage from blood flow loss may result from extended or particularly intense approaches.)  It can be intense when blood returns and the nerve signals pain again.

Cock rings

These are rings that go around the cock and balls, keeping a bit more blood there.  They can be made of many things, but especially common are leather, metal and rubbery styles.

Cockring

Rope

Here in particular I’m talking about thinner ropes wrapped multiple times around the genitals to bind them.

Straps

Same as above, but made perhaps of leather or latex.

Stretching

Ball stretchers

This gear wraps around the ball sack, pressing the balls lower.  Many guys find them a nice reminder of their nuts.  Some have D-ring attachment points to add weights.

Ball stretchers

Parachute harnesses

This gear also wraps around the ball sack in a parachute fashion, pressing the balls lower.  Typically there will be chains hanging down to an attachment point at which weights may be hung.

Parachute harness

Weights

To add more awareness of the ball stretcher or parachute.

Weights

Compression

flattened by pressure; squeezed or pressed together

Elastic “ACE” bandages

Ball crushers

Ball crusher (chrome)

Clothespins

Impact (slapping, flogging, beating)

Hitting or striking with the hand/fingers or an implement.

One important safety feature pointed out to me by someone who attended my first CBT presentation:  There is a significant vein that runs along the area behind the balls toward the asshole.  It is possible to cause internal bleeding from a CBT scene, especially when kneeing in the groin.  Try to avoid this.  Seek medical attention if you or your partner piss blood after taking a knee (or other blunt force) to the groin.

Pressure

Puncture

Puncture approaches / temporary piercings -- sterile needles -- open holes into the body.  There is some risk of infection.  That risk can be minimized with sterile or clean technique.

Temperature

Friction

Teasing & tickling

e-stim

Ball crusher (electrifiable)

FYIs

Hands

Useful for many aspects of CBT play – especially little nuances of pressure -- hands are at the ready.

Urethral sounds

“Sounding” is a specialized urethral cock play that deserves its own presentation so I won’t cover it here.

Needles / CBT butterfly boards

I’ve done this fun, bonding experience with each of my long-term slaves and we’ve had a good time with it.  It involved receiving specialized training in temporary piercing on my part.  If interested I urge you to seek that training out.

Endorphins and aftercare

Intense physical play of many sorts can create endorphins.  These are naturally occurring pain-suppressing chemicals in the body.  They can also lead to feelings of peacefulness, euphoria.  (Runners have called it “Runners’ high” for many years.)  When many endorphins are released at once, this is often referred to as an “endorphin rush.”  The removal of constriction, stretching and compression will result in a resurgence of blood to the area and this can feel rather intense.  Some people respond similarly to sterile needles.  All those can cause a release of endorphins.

There is a duty for the Top in a scene to prepare for and look after the person it is working with:  People can faint.  Bondage can secure a person.  Quick-release clamps, if the person is in standing bondage (think tied to a cross), can help release the person for lowering.  Another approach is to do removal when the bottom is laying down, as then the bottom is already safely on the ground.

The duty to look after the bottom extends to after the scene, commonly called aftercare.  With a CBT scene and possible endorphin rush, there are some things to consider:  Thinking may be fuzzy for a while.  Depth perception (think driving; even parking) may be off for a while.  One way to help address these considerations is to include wind-down time in a scene.  A favorite?  Holding.  It’s a very bonding time.

The Top can influence things

Applying

1.     How things are applied (by example, Jack Rinella relays that in applying clothespins that “…if you start in less sensitive areas, such as the chest, your bottom will last longer.” Clips & Clamps, p.53)

2.     Pauses

3.     Quiet

4.     Predicament bondage (by example, movement in one area creates a challenge in another area, sometimes done by tying two or more things together)

During

1.     Touching

2.     Twisting

3.     Removing one or more

4.     Replacing one or more

5.     Time to adjust, including pauses and breaks

6.     Feedback, such as “Three more”

Removing

1.     Opening vs. pulling

2.     Tempo of removal

3.     Distraction

4.     Simultaneous removal from different areas such as via zippers and nets

5.     Giving a head’s up that one or more are about to be removed

Communicating and negotiating

Clear, respectful communication, part I

Here's an example:
Sir/ma’am:  You having a fun, hot experience is very important.  There is one issue I need to communicate so that you can make informed decisions.  I take aspirin for my heart health and as a result I tend to bruise easily.  If you could work in a way that might minimize bruising I’d really appreciate it.  Thank you, Sir/ma’am!

Clear, respectful communication, part II

The leather tribe works with power.
Many folks do it well and with style.
The tribe does have a history, however, of friendly fire -- eating our own.
My observation is that we can each help contain these fires with these actions:

·        When disagreements happen, and they will, be respectful

·        Discreet, constructive input is helpful

·        Avoid gossip

Negotiating

Dan Kalin was my leather mentor.  He was the first person who came up to me at a leather bar, circa 1988, and said "I want to tie you up."  My response was along the lines of "That's nice. Perhaps some other time."  Dan seemed to intuitively know that I was afraid.  He stayed and we talked.  I started asking questions such as "Would you stop if I asked?"  (His answer was the intriguing: "Yes, but I won't start again.")  "Could there be a time limit?"  (He said it depended.  I inquired why.  He explained that it took a while to tie someone up, and if the time were too short that would mean that untying would come shortly after, and that wouldn’t be worth his time.)  When I became better versed in the leather community I realized that what we had done was negotiate a scene.  I made the leap of faith and went with him to the Brotherhood of Pain dungeon.  It was deliciously sinister.  Ah, the first time at anything: Those were some of the hottest four hours of my life.
